I’m Helen, the photographer and creative behind The Nomad Creative. I’m drawn to people, stories, ideas and the little details that make something feel real. My work sits somewhere between photography, storytelling, creative direction and helping people figure out how to bring what’s in their head into the world in a way that still feels like them. My connection with Collaborative Wellness has grown through working alongside Traci, who places a lot of trust in my process and the way I pull things together. We’re very aligned in how we think about people, community and creating things with real intention. I naturally look at the whole picture, not just how something looks, but how it feels, what it is trying to communicate and how all the pieces work together. I bring the creative and technical side, helping shape ideas, guide the process, make things make sense visually and practically, and bring the feeling of something to life.

The Nomad Creative

Creative Storytelling, Photography & Brand Support

The Nomad Creative is a photography and creative storytelling business based in Horowhenua, working with people, small businesses, community organisations and brands across the Lower North Island. My work covers photography, content creation, visual storytelling, creative direction and brand support. Sometimes that means photographing a business or person exactly as they are. Sometimes it means helping someone work out what they’re actually trying to say, how they want people to feel, and what that could look like across their website, social media, imagery or wider brand. I take a holistic approach to creative work. I’m interested in the whole story behind a person or business, not just one piece of content in isolation. The visual side, the words, the feeling, the values, the audience and the practical way it all needs to function should work together. I’m especially drawn to work that has heart behind it. People building something meaningful, community-focused businesses, personal brands, makers, hospitality, wellbeing and organisations doing genuinely good work. My approach is relaxed, collaborative and very people-focused. I care about the technical side and making things look good, but I care just as much about whether it feels right. The goal is never to make someone look like a polished version of somebody else. It’s to help them communicate who they already are more clearly.
